• Recording and searching deeds, deeds of trust, liens and plats
• Certified copies of recorded land documents
• Filing Chancery Court matters, including estates, guardianships and conservatorships
• Serving as clerk to the Board of Supervisors and keeping the official minutes
• Acting as county auditor and treasurer for county funds
• Land redemption for property sold for delinquent taxes

Land records

Land records for both judicial districts are maintained at the courthouse for that district. Records for property in the first judicial district are kept in Houston; records for the second judicial district are kept in Okolona. If you are unsure which district your property falls in, call either office and staff can direct you.

Recording a document

Documents must be legible, contain the grantor and grantee names, and include a legal description of the property. Recording fees are set by state statute and are due at the time of filing. Call ahead for current fees and accepted payment methods.

Chancery Court

Chancery Court handles estates and wills, guardianships and conservatorships, land disputes, divorces, adoptions and other equity matters. The Chancery Clerk accepts these filings but cannot give legal advice or help complete court forms.
