Reporting a non-emergency

Jail and inmate information

Questions about an inmate's status, bond amount or visitation should be directed to the jail by phone. Visitation days and hours are set by the Sheriff and can change with little notice, so always call before traveling.

Records and background checks

Requests for incident reports, accident reports and local background checks are handled in person at the Sheriff's office. Bring a photo ID and, where possible, the report number and the date of the incident.

Civil process

Papers issued by the Circuit, Chancery or Justice Court are served by deputies. If you have filed a case and need to check on service, call the office with your case number.

Bond is set by the court, not by the Sheriff. Call the jail for the current bond amount and the charges, then post bond either at the jail or through a licensed Mississippi bail agent. Ask which payment methods the jail accepts before you arrive.

How do I request an incident or accident report?

Records requests are handled in person at the Sheriff's office during business hours. Bring a photo ID and, if you have them, the report number and the date and location of the incident. Some records tied to an open investigation cannot be released until the case closes.
